Announcement of the iPhone 14
The official announcement of the iPhone 14 is getting closer! It will undoubtedly take place during the next special event, traditionally organized by Apple at the beginning of September. And this keynote should take place at the very beginning of September if we are to believe the American journalist Mark Gurman (see our article ). Rumors and conjectures are already rife about the successor to the current iPhone 13. And even the following models for that matter, the iPhone 15 and iPhone 16!
Let’s be clear, all the elements that we are going to detail below are therefore only hypotheses, based both on the extrapolation of previous developments, on the information which seems to want to filter partners and subcontractors of ‘Apple and on the publications of technical and financial analysts like Kuo Ming-Chi, Mark Gurman or Ross Young who are constantly trying to unlock Apple’s secrets, sometimes with success and you can first see the iphone 14 pro max price in bangladesh.
Anyway, all these calculations allow us to imagine what Apple is preparing, which is always interesting when we know that the Apple brand is still a reference, even a model, on the smartphone market, often inspiring competition.
They also allow those who are considering buying an iPhone to know if it is better to crack now for an iPhone 13 or if it is better to wait a few more months to equip yourself with a really more innovative model. So here’s what we think we know or guess so far.
What design for the iPhone 14?
Based on the design evolutions of the previous models, it seems almost certain that the iPhone 14 will be externally very close to the iPhone 13, itself an almost exact copy of the iPhone 12.
We should therefore find the flat edges inaugurated by the latter, surrounding the screen occupying almost the entire surface of the front face. However, we should be able to easily distinguish the iPhone 14 Pro and Pro Max from their predecessors because the famous notch located at the top in the middle, which appeared for the first time on the iPhone X in 2017, would be replaced by two perforations: a circular and an oblong.
To get an idea, imagine the lowercase letter “i” placed horizontally, with the dot on the right. These two elements pierced in the face recognition FaceID, and proximity (to turn off the screen when you approach it to the ear).
Although this will surely be almost impossible to detect with the naked eye, it is possible that the screens of the iPhone 14 and 14 Max are very slightly larger than those of the 13 and 13 Max.
Indeed, thanks in particular to a thinner border around the screen (see below the different models that should make up the range), the diagonal of that of the iPhone 14 would increase to 6.12 inches (compared to 6.06 for iPhone 13).
As for the Max models, they would increase to 6.69 inches (compared to 6.68 for the 13 Pro Max). It goes without saying that the name will probably not change to officially remain at 6.1 inches for the iPhone 14 and 14 Pro, and at 6.7 inches for the iPhone 14 Max and 14 Pro Max.
On the screen side, the whole range is expected to feature ProMotion technology which allows the latest iPhone for people to vary the screen refresh rate depending on usage. For example to go from 10 images per second when you are only reading a web page for example, up to 120 images per second as soon as you touch the screen to scroll said web page.
This allows for much more eye-pleasing animations while also improving battery life by allowing the iPhone to “rest” when the display doesn’t need to be animated. This technology, inaugurated by the iPad Pro, is currently reserved for Pro models on the iPhone 13.
Even if the rumor is true, the iPhone 14 Pro will not be the first smartphone to offer a notch alternative. On the Android side, Samsung, Xiaomi, OnePlus and others have been offering models for several years now that try to reduce the area occupied by the various sensors.
But none of them has yet offered a facial recognition system as precise and secure as that of the iPhone. This probably explains Apple’s difficulty in changing the size of the famous notch, even if that of the iPhone 13 had already been slightly reduced.

As for the back, we should find the same photo block grouping the three lenses, still as thick, or even thicker than that of the iPhone 13.
For a while, rumors made us hope for the return of ‘a flat iPhone, that is to say without this outgrowth of the optical unit. We will probably have to wait for the iPhone 15 or iPhone 16 to find an iPhone that we can again lay flat on a table.
Indeed, despite all its prowess, Apple cannot circumvent the laws of physics: to improve the quality of the photos, it is necessary to enlarge the sensors so that they can collect more light (see later on the thickness and the photo capabilities of the next iPhone 14 models) and, for this, the lenses of the objectives must respect a minimum physical distance so that the light passing through them illuminates the entire surface of said photo sensor.
But then, how to achieve this for the iPhone 15 and 16? Through the use of a periscope! Yes, like in a submarine, but not in the way you surely imagine.
No question here of a motorized lens that would deploy outwards. Here, the light collected by the lens would not be directly directed towards the photo sensor, but first towards a mirror or a prism oriented at 45° which leads the light towards the sensor placed further, inside the smartphone. . using a periscope! What dimensions for the iPhone 14?
The iPhone 13 had already marked a break point in Apple’s frenzied search for the ever thinner. While the thickness of the iPhone 12 and 12 Pro had dropped to 7.4 mm – against 8.3 and 8.1 for the iPhone 11 and 11 Pro – the iPhone 13 and 13 Pro had risen to 7.65 mm.
It doesn’t seem like much, but that’s what allowed the iPhone 13 to really gain autonomy. Some even have a long-awaited sign of the end of the Jony Ive era, named after the famous Apple designer responsible for designing almost all products between 1996 and 2019.
And the iPhone 14 seems to want to continue this turnaround as it is expected to reach a thickness of 7.85mm.
And this overweight would also concern the optical blocks, that is to say the growths located on the back of the iPhone and bring together the lenses, the flash and one of the microphones.
Thus the total thickness at the level of the cameras would increase from 11.25 mm for the iPhone 13 Pro to 12.02 mm for the iPhone 14 Pro. Similarly, the area occupied by the entire photo block would also grow from 35.01 mm x 36.24 mm to 36.73 mm x 38.21 mm.
Which models for the iPhone 14?
Just like the iPhone 13, the iPhone 14 catalog should be made up of four models, but with a difference in size, in more ways than one! The iPhone 12 mini and 13 mini have apparently not been very popular, so there will probably not be a Phone 14 mini.
On the other hand, buyers favoring large screens, a second Max model, equipped with a 6.7-inch (17 cm) diagonal screen, should appear. Remember that the “non-Max” models offer a 6.1-inch (15.5 cm) diagonal screen.
In other words, if we also believe the photo below which perhaps shows the first models of the screens of the next models, the range of iPhone 14 should therefore be composed as follows: iPhone 14, iPhone 14 Max, iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max.
This therefore means that fans of the largest possible iPhone will no longer need to turn to the most expensive model in the range. Good for them even if, of course, we should not expect the iPhone 14 Max to be cheap for all that! For a more compact iPhone, you will therefore have to turn to the iPhone SE 3, unless the iPhone 13 mini remains in the catalog, as is the case today for the 12 mini.
What new photo and video features for the iPhone 14?
The larger size of the optical block is one of the necessary steps to improve the quality of the photos. It allows the iPhone to carry a larger sensor and let in a little more light, two essential conditions for obtaining better images.
It is enough to see the evolution of the different models over the years to understand the evidence of the trend. Remember: the iPhone was the first model to include a lens protruding from the chassis. And again, it only exceeded a little less than a millimeter, against more than four today!
That said, the real novelty of the iPhone 14 Pro would be the increase in the number of pixels of the photo sensor of the main lens, called wide-angle by Apple. While it had remained at 12 Mpixels since the Phone 6s, it would increase to 48 Mpixels on the iPhone 14 Pro.
Attention, this quadrupling would be reserved for the Pro models, the iPhone 14 and 14 Max being content to remain at 12 Mpixels. This would allow Apple to differentiate the Pro range a little more from the rest of the range, in addition to the fact that, as with the iPhone 13, the iPhone 14 Pro and Pro Max would have 3 lenses (an ultra wide-angle, a wide-angle and a zoom) against two for the iPhone 14 and 14 Max (a wide-angle and an ultra-wide-angle).
Remember, however, that image quality should not be confused with the number of pixels. More pixels doesn’t necessarily mean a better photo. And in the case of the iPhone 14 Pro, the final images produced would always have, or almost always, a resolution of 12 Mpixels. The iPhone would use the higher capacity of the sensor to refine its calculations of exposure, contrast and fine detail to obtain an even more successful photo, but not necessarily larger. We can therefore still expect a significant improvement in the quality of photos, especially in low light, a situation for which the iPhone 14 Pro would be able to use four pixels to become one and so add the captured light.
It seems that this 48 Mpixel sensor would also allow the iPhone 14 Pro and Pro Max to record video sequences up to 8K resolution, against 4K maximum today for all iPhone 13 models, Pro or not. This new capacity for very (very!) high resolution video recording, thus producing huge files, could also have an impact on storage capacities. While the various iPhone 14 and 14 Max models should start at 128 GB of storage, it’s a safe bet that the iPhone 14 Pro and Pro Max will be equipped with at least 256 GB. To perhaps go up to 2 TB , against 1 TB maximum for the iPhone 13 Pro and Pro Max. Surely with a corresponding price increase.
Which processor for the iPhone 14?
Who says new iPhone obviously says a new, more powerful processor, if only to perform even faster the millions of calculation operations necessary to process the information collected by the photo and video sensors as mentioned above. Again, the iPhone 14 range could create a surprise because it is expected that, for the first time since the appearance of the iPhone Pro (iPhone 11 range), the iPhone 14 Pro and Pro Max have a newer and more powerful processor than that of the iPhone 14 and 14 Max. Even more surprisingly, it is possible that only the iPhone 14 Pro and Pro Max are equipped with the A16 Bionic chip (probable name of the successor to the current A15 Bionic which equips the entire current range of iPhone 13 and 13 Pro).
And that the iPhone 14 and 14 Max are content, therefore, to keep the current A15. However, it would be an evolution of the latter which would include an additional graphics core. It could then be called A15X. It would not be the first time that Apple would evolve one of its processors in this way.
This is what happened with the A12X chip of the 2018 iPad Pro which had been replaced by an A12Z chip of the 2020 iPad Pro and whose only notable difference was, precisely, the addition of an additional graphics processing core. (eight against seven).
What will the price of the iPhone 14 be?
Given market trends, particularly related to the shortage of components but also to Apple’s tenacious desire to preserve its high margins, we can unfortunately expect an overall increase in the price of the various iPhone 14 models, compared to those of the iPhone 13. We remember for example that the iPhone SE 3 went to 529 euros when it replaced the second generation iPhone SE which started at 489 euros.
That is an increase of just over 8%. Without forgetting either that it is the iPhone 13 mini which is today the most “affordable” of the iPhone 13 at a price of 809 euros.
But as it seems certain that we will not have an iPhone 14 mini, it is therefore with the iPhone 14 that the new range will begin. It would also be to limit the rise in the price of
The current iPhone 13 being offered at 909 euros, the iPhone 14 could start at 979 euros if we apply the same ratio of 8% as for the iPhone SE mentioned above. If we refer to the current price difference between the iPhone 13 Pro and 13 Pro Max (1159 euros against 1259 euros), the new larger-screen iPhone 14 Max could therefore cost at least 100 euros more than the iPhone 14, or 1079 euros.
As for the iPhone 14 Pro latest update, it could then start at 1249 euros, if we also apply the 8% increase. This would place the “basic” model of the iPhone 14 Pro Max at 1349 euros. Except that, in our hypothesis, the iPhone 14 Pro could start with a minimum storage of 256 GB. Against 128 for the iPhone 13 Pro and Pro Max.
However, each additional 128 GB now adds around 120 euros to the total price. So, can we expect an iPhone 14 Pro starting at 1349 euros minimum, if we “round up” a little? And 1449 euros for the iPhone 14 Pro Max? It wouldn’t be the first time that Apple has stunned us with its price range!
What colors for the iPhone 14?
The release of a new iPhone is also an opportunity for Apple to refresh its color range.
And that’s even more important when the physical look of the new models isn’t really that different from the previous models, as it looks like the iPhone 14s will be the case compared to the iPhone 13s.
How else? so buyers can easily show the rest of the world that they’ve gotten themselves the latest model? We can therefore expect the classic Silver, Graphite and Gold colors to be complemented by new shades of Blue and Green, more or less clear. And we must also expect another much more differentiating color, which allows you to recognize at first glance, especially in Apple’s marketing photos, that it is is the brand new iPhone 14 or 14 Pro.
This was the case with the pastel range of the iPhone 11, the deep blue of the iPhone 12, the snowy white of the iPhone 13.
Are we heading towards a shade that has not yet been used for iPhone 14? Orange, maybe?
When will the iPhone 14 release date be?
The new iPhone 14 and 14 Pro range should officially be shown for the first time on September 7, 2022, during the traditional Apple event to present the new iPhone of the year (see our article).
Of course, it’s a safe bet that we’ll see stolen photos of the iPhone 14 and 14 Pro before then. Traditionally, pre-orders for new iPhones open the following Friday, which this time would be Friday, September 16.
And deliveries and in-store availability begin a week later, here on Friday, September 23. That said, naturally, the global situation of shortage of components linked to both the health crisis and the situation in Ukraine, could well disrupt the well-oiled wheels of Apple.
Soon an iPhone with a satellite connection?
Kuo Ming-Chi and Mark Gurman, among the most famous and accurate analysts on future iPhone trends, believe that a future iPhone, not necessarily the iPhone 14, could have a reduced capacity to connect to satellites.
in low orbit. The idea would not be to allow our iPhones to make calls, and even less to download episodes of series, in the desert or lost in the middle of the ocean.
But rather to be able to send an emergency text alert when needed, from its locations far from any 4G or 5G mobile connection. A real plus for the safety of frequent travellers.
When will a foldable iPhone?
For three years now, several Android smartphone manufacturers have been offering devices with foldable screens, like the Samsung Fold and Flip. And for now, still nothing on the side of Apple. Nothing strange about that though, as Apple is rarely used to being first to market in any product category.
The company rather tends to wait until the market is ripe to offer a device that is often more successful than those already existing.
However, we know that Apple is working on it, particularly in collaboration with LG, one of its main screen suppliers. The two companies would work in particular on an OLED screen covered not with plastic as on the screens used by the foldable Samsungs, but indeed with an ultra-thin layer of glass, capable of bending.
